What I realized was the trigger on the VP9 was NOT as good as I remember it being on the first range trip.ĭuring qualifications, it was a lot more stressful with TJ yelling out commands like load 6, shoot 6, shoot 2 standing, 2 from low cover, 2 from standing, 2 from left cover, 2 from standing, 2 from right cover, shoot 2, reload/chg mags, shoot 2 etc. During the qualification shoot, I made a ragged hole with the PPS & the Sphinx, while I didn't miss any shots for the VP9, the grouping was a lot worse than the other 2, and no ragged hole. After all 3 qualifications, it was CLEAR to me which ones I'm adding. I did the qualification in the following order, PPS, Sphinx, and VP9. I knew I was adding the PPS, but couldn't decide between the Sphinx or the VP9. I plan on dropping my Sig P220 Carry Elite SAO and Sig P226, and replace them with the Walther PPS and either the Sphinx or the VP9. I was at On Target yesterday with TJ Johnston - AllSafe Defense to qualify guns to add to my ccw. This is a cross post from my other thread. My next range trip, I'll probably do a side by side comparison of my P30L vs VP9. Build quality / fit & finish / ergonomics. but everything else about the gun, I would say goes to the VP9. I'd still give the trigger a slight advantage to the PPQ. Doesn't happen to me on my VP9 / P30L / HK45. the PPQ has cheapo plastic sites that look like they'll break off.Įrgonomics - VP9 just feels better in my hand than the PPQ. The VP9s stamped metal pieces just look cheap when you compare it side by side with the P30L. you can definitely tell HK saved money here. feel like the P30L, but with the texturing of the PPQ. The VP9 mag release is a nice solid piece of plastic like the P30L. but VP9 just feels like a cheaper version of the P30L. It has the over all shape / feel of the P30L. The VP9 slots some where in between the 2 guns. The paddle mag release is a very thin piece of plastic, it bends when you push it down. One of things that always bugged me about the PPQ is the build quality.

just easier for me to drop the mag using my trigger finger.īuild Quality / Finish - Better than the PPQ, but just not as nice as the HK P30. Mag release - I'm used to the paddle mag release after using it for the past 2 years. The more I shot the VP9, the more I liked it. My groups were slightly tighter with my PPQ vs the VP9. I put 100 rds through each gun, comparing them side by side. I finally took my VP9 out to the range today.
